Is Rep. Mike Johnson part of a fraternity?

After being voted on by the U.S. House Republicans on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Rep. Mike Johnson is now the new speaker in the chamber. 

The position has been vacant for more than three weeks after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted. Congressman Johnson serves Louisiana’s Fourth District.

Rep. Mike Johnson was part of a fraternity during his days at Louisiana State University. In 1995 he was selected to Leadership LSU and the Order of Omega Honor Society, Kappa Sigma Fraternity. 

Rep. Mike Johnson also served as president of the LSU Interfraternity Council during his stay at LSU, where he also earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration.

Moving on, Rep. Mike Johnson also went on to further his education by attaining his Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1998. 

Rep. Mike Johnson has had experience in Constitutional law, and also served on the House Judiciary Committee. 

In the same year, 1998, Rep. Johnson was selected as a member of the Moot Court Board and National Moot Court Team.
