Gloria Marie Steinem was born on 25 March 1934, in Toledo, Ohio USA, of Scottish and German descent. Gloria is a journalist, political activist, and social activist, perhaps still best known for becoming the leader of the feminist movement from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. In 1969, she began identifying as a feminist after becoming part of an abortion speak-out for New York magazine. Three years later she co-founded the magazine Ms. which started off as a special edition of New York magazine before becoming its own publication. The magazine proved very successful and helped elevate Gloria’s net worth. She continued writing throughout the 1970s, eventually becoming the first woman to speak at the National Press Club.

Aside from her writing work, Steinem became a leader in the feminist circle, and the opportunities she gained afterwards would also help her net worth.
